Signs it is time to bring it in
- The A/C blows warm or only slightly cool air
- Airflow from the vents is weak
- A musty smell when the fan is on
- The heater blows cold
- A noise that starts when the A/C is switched on
- Windows fog up and will not clear
Low refrigerant means there is a leak
An air conditioning system is sealed. Refrigerant does not get used up, so if the level is low, it leaked out somewhere. Adding more without finding the leak is a short-term fix. We check the system, find where it is losing refrigerant or why it is not cooling, and explain your options.
It is not always refrigerant
Warm air can also come from a failed compressor, a blocked condenser, a cooling fan that is not running, an electrical fault, or a blend door stuck on heat. Weak airflow is often a clogged cabin air filter or a failing blower motor.
Heating and Air Conditioning: questions and answers
- Why is my car A/C blowing warm air?
- The most common cause is low refrigerant from a leak. Other causes include a failed compressor, a blocked or damaged condenser, a cooling fan problem, an electrical fault, or a blend door stuck on the heat side.
- Does my A/C need to be recharged regularly?
- No. A healthy system is sealed and does not need routine recharging. If it needs refrigerant, it has a leak that should be found and repaired.
- Why does my heater blow cold air?
- Usual causes are low coolant, a thermostat stuck open, a clogged heater core, or a blend door that is not moving. Low coolant can also lead to overheating, so have it checked promptly.
- Do you warranty your repairs?
- Yes. We back our repairs with a 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty.
- Can I get same-day service?
- In most cases, yes. How long a job takes depends on the repair and on parts, so call (714) 841-1245 and we will tell you what to expect for your vehicle.
- Will I get an estimate before any work is done?
- Yes. California law requires a written estimate and your authorization before repair work begins. Nothing is done to your vehicle until you approve it.
